Boundary County Commissioners approved the 2009-2010 budget at a County Budget Hearing held on September 8.
According to paperwork submitted to County Commissioners Ron Smith, Dan Dinning and Walt Kirby by County Clerk Glenda Poston, the balance to be levied will be $3,897,147, which is an increase of $242,018 from the prior year. This represents a 3 percent increase of $111,117, which is the maximum increase allowed by state law. The levy rate will be .004177376 or $417.74 on a value of $100,000. This is an increase of $24 per $100,000 or a 6.10 percent increase from the previous year.
Solid Waste Fees for the year inside city limits will be reduced by $36.72 per parcel. Solid Waste Fees for the year outside city limits will be reduced by $43.92 per parcel.
According to Commissioner Ron Smith, no pay increase for county employees is scheduled in the budget. There has been a 22 percent increase in workers compensation benefits that the county will be required to pay as well as a 12.5 percent increase in county employees' health insurance benefits.
