Brian W. Woods Announces The Opening Of A Bonners Ferry Law Office

March 11, 2010

Brian W. Woods announces the March 22, 2010 opening of his law office in downtown Bonners Ferry. "I am excited to announce the formal opening of a downtown Bonners Ferry office," said Mr. Woods. "I am excited to be a part of this community and look forward to serving the people of Boundary County for many years to come." Mr. Woods relocated to Bonners Ferry from Kansas nearly two years ago with his family. His wife, Michelle, is in her second year teaching kindergarten at Evergreen Elementary. Michelle and Brian are the proud parents of three children. Cameron, age 14, is in eighth grade. Savannah, age 13, is in seventh grade. Ciera, age 11, is in sixth grade. All three children attend Boundary County Middle School. "It has been a smooth transition for us," said Mr. Woods. "We have easily adjusted to living in this beautiful part of the world. In addition to the scenery and many outdoor recreational opportunities, we have really felt welcomed by the people here. Boundary County is a great community with lots of friendly, nice people and we are proud to call Bonners Ferry home."

When asked why he is only now opening an office, Mr. Woods replied that "I have a law practice in Kansas that I kept when we moved here. I've slowly been reducing my law practice there so I could work here. I will continue to have a Kansas office, just a smaller Kansas practice. I've been slowly eliminating work there to free up time for an Idaho practice."

Mr. Woods received undergraduate degrees magna cum laude in accounting and business administration. After college, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for two years with a public accounting firm. He received his law degree with high honors from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. After law school, Mr. Woods served as a law clerk to a Federal District Court Judge, a prestigious honor.

Mr. Woods has practiced law for fifteen years. He worked for two large law firms in Kansas City, Missouri before opening his solo law practice in his wife's hometown, Hesston, Kansas.

So, why did he and his family choose to relocate to Idaho and Bonners Ferry? "That's an easy question to answer," said Mr. Woods. "My wife and I both love the outdoors. I enjoy fishing and hunting, hiking, skiing and mountain biking. A lot of the things we love to do are just not possible in Kansas. We simply always wanted to live in the inland Northwest United States and we wanted a smaller town to raise our children. We enjoyed living in Kansas, and we still have family there, but we wanted our kids to grow up in the Northwest United States and think of this area as their home. After several years of vacationing and looking, we settled on Bonners Ferry. We have fallen in love with this community and are excited to be a part of it. We are looking forward to raising our children, working and retiring here. This is a wonderful place and I want to help it stay that way." As for practice areas, Mr. Woods stated "We will see what develops over time, but I plan on at least initially having mostly a general law practice here. My past experiences involve primarily business law, estate planning, real estate and civil litigation."

Mr. Woods' office is located at 6418 Kootenai Street in the American Legion building. His office number is 267-4455, toll free 800-560-3888.

He plans to be open regular business hours Monday through Thursday.
