Betty Gail Christenson

June 27, 1923 - March 31, 2010

Betty Gail Christenson returned to the Lord in Bonners Ferry Idaho on 31 March, 2010. A memorial service honoring Betty will be held on Saturday 24 April at 2:00pm at the Crossroads Chapel in Bonners Ferry, Pastor Gayle Morman presiding.

Betty was born on 27 June 1923 to Frank and Gail Hammond of Flint Michigan. She graduated from Dye Road School and Dye Road High School in Flint, and attended nurses training in
Michigan prior to her enlistment in the United States Navy in 1944 as a WAVE.

While in the Navy, she met her future husband, Eric W. "Chris" Christenson, and was married on 14 September 1945. Betty settled with Chris initially in Slocom Rhode Island, where they raised two sons, Eric C. and Jan Christenson. The family moved west to California in 1961, and continued to search for that ideal place. They found it in their home off Old Addie Road in Bonners Ferry Idaho in 1968.

Betty loved gardening, flowers, and all living things, especially the birds. She was an excellent seamstress and crafted beautiful quilts - all hand stitched. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty loved her life on the ranch in north Idaho as a true partner to Chris, her husband of 64 years. While diminutive in stature, with a kind and gentle spirit, Betty would have held her own with the best Pioneer women of yore. She was a genuine good woman, and the likes of her will not tread this earth again soon.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Jan Chistenson, and is survived by her husband "Chris", her son Eric C. Christenson, grandsons Jan David Christenson, Jeremy Christenson, and Eric W. Christenson II, as well as granddaughter Jennifer Christenson Duer. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Abigail Christenson, Lauren Christenson Duer, Erica Christenson Duer, and Andrew Christenson Duer.

Family and friends are invited to sign Betty's book at www.bonnersferryfuneralhome.com Arrangement are entrusted to the care of Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.
