Boundary County Commissioners are seeking letters of interest from those in the community interested in serving on the county Planning and Zoning Commission. There are three positions available.
The Boundary County Planning and Zoning Commission is made up of nine community volunteers who are tasked with reviewing all land use applications in the county that require public hearing, either to make a decision or a recommendation to county commissioners. In addition, members are also in the process of writing new county zoning and subdivision ordinances to meet the goals established by the new Comprehensive Plan. The commission regularly meets on the third Thursday of each month, and are currently attending additional workshops to work on the zone ordinances.
To be eligible, you must be a full-time resident of Boundary County and have lived here for a minimum of two years.
Letters of interest should include how long you've lived in Boundary County, what part of the county you live in as well as why you would like to be a member. Letters can be mailed to Planning and Zoning, P.O. Box 419, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805, faxed to 267-1205, or emailed to planning@boundarycountyid.org.
Those interested should also plan to attend the next regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the main courtroom at the Boundary County Courthouse to be interviewed by current members of the commission, who will forward a recommendation to county commissioners.
