Local Conductor Invited To Bring Choir To Costa Rica

On Fri. Sept. 9 at 6:30 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bonners Ferry an informational meeting will be held for all singers interested in auditioning for a choir which will be featured at the "Festival for Hope and Peace" in San Jose, Costa Rica. Local conductor Victoria (Vicki Blake) Thompson has been invited to bring a choir from the inland Northwest which will join other choirs for the festival and then tour on its own in Costa Rica. Dates for the trip are May 27 - June, 7, 2012. Rehearsals for the group will begin in early January. Choir members will be chosen by interview/audition during September. Singers with a flexible attitude, the ability to match pitch and rhythm, an open heart, and the desire to make a positive difference in the world are sought for this choir.

There will be many opportunities for real people to people cultural exchange on this tour as many of the concerts will be exchange concerts with Costa Rican choirs followed by gatherings for the singers from both choirs. There will also be a raft trip to see birds, wild life, and the rain forest, walks to pristine waterfalls for swimming and viewing, a visit to an active volcano, several days on the national park beach at Samara, opportunity to be part of a sea turtle project, and opportunity for those who desire to do a zip line tour of the rain forest canopy. The choir will also perform several times throughout the inland NW before departure in May.
