Listeners will be whisked back to the jovial days of youth during the North Idaho College Wind Symphony’s performance of “The Dreams of Children” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.
“This concert will combine music with narration to illustrate certain images of childhood,” said NIC Band Director Terry Jones.
The symphony will perform a baseball themed piece while the classic story of Casey at the Bat is narrated along with other fables such as the Tortoise and the Hare and the Boy Who Cried Wolf.
The group will also perform “Cowboys,” a musical version of “Gandalf” the wizard, and a collection of circus marches called “Under the Big Top.”
Eric Whitacre’s “Sleep,” a medley from the “Wizard of Oz” and “Acrostic Song,” which is the last movement from an Alice in Wonderland Suite, will round out the concert.
The concert is free and open to the public and will be held in the NIC Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center.
