NIC To Offer Class For Women In Transition

      Public Information Coordinator

Women who are experiencing a major change in their lives are encouraged to participate in the four-week "Welcome to Opportunities" class offered through North Idaho College's Center for New Directions.

The class will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday beginning April 27 in Siebert Hall Room 111 on NIC's main campus.

"Women in transition are women going through a change in their lives, which makes them feel they need to start over," said Center for New Directions Coordinator Carol Haught. "This could be the ending of a marriage or relationship, a change in physical or emotional health, loss of a job or a business, recovery from addiction or empty nest syndrome."

The class will cover issues such as self-esteem, future goals, self-sufficiency and networking. Women will learn how employment, education and training and even communication can be opportunities. Participants in the class can take free assessments to discover their strengths and elements of their personalities.

"Classes like this are helpful because they can provide structure to an unstructured time, the support of instructors and peers, practical strategies for rebuilding a successful life and a sense of hope and possibility for the future," Haught said.

The class is free, but participants must pre-register by calling 208-769-3445.
