Avalanche Hockey Team Loses in Double Overtime

The 2000 Kootenay Avalanche hockey team played in the Vancouver mainland tournament on April 17-19.

In their first game against the Vancouver Thunder, they were victorious in a 9-2 win. Kootenai Tribal member James Porter, Jr. received game MVP honors for his goaltending.

In the next game, they played against the Vancouver Selects 01. It was a close battle and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

In a final round robin game, they played the Westcoast Wild. The Avalanche came away with a 9-0 win. Porter recorded his second shutout of spring hockey.

In the semi-finals, they played the North Shore Cougars and lost a heartbreaker in double overtime with a score of 2-1. The Avalanche outplayed the Cougars but couldn't find a way to score. It was an exciting game from start to finish.

The team is finding out that they can play with all these city teams and are getting better each week. The team is off to Kelowna May 1-3 for their final tournament.
