Badgers Thump Tigers

Taggart Leads The Way On Senior Day

      

The Badgers celebrated senior day with a 10 – 0 thumping of the Timberlake tigers to strengthen their hold on second place. The win improves their overall record to 12 – 5 and 7 – 3 in league. Senior Greg Taggart threw a gem pitching six strong innings giving up only two hits, striking out 10 and not walking a batter. He only threw a total of 69 pitches.

The Badgers struck for five runs in the bottom of the first inning when senior Aaron Hoisington reached on an error and CJ Erickson was hit by a pitch. Zack Roberts then hit a two-run single to score Hoisington and Erickson. Senior Robby burns then laced an RBI double to left center to score Roberts. Senior Casey nelson hit a single to center and then Taggart scored nelson with a sacrifice fly.

Bonners ferry added another run in the second inning after Alek Lopez walked and stole second. He later scored on Aaron Hoisington’s single to left. In the third inning, the Badgers added two more runs to make it 8 – 0 on a single from Zach Maas and an RBI double off the fence from Lopez. In the fifth inning, Bonners Ferry scored on an RBI single from Taggart and in the sixth inning Hoisington cracked an RBI double to end the game scoring Lopez.

The five seniors recognized were Aaron Hoisington, Casey Nelson, Greg Taggart, Robby Burns and Michaela Dirks (manager).

The four senior baseball players contributed six of the nine hits including two doubles, five RBI’s and five runs.
