Memorial Day Parade Planned

The American Legion Boundary Post 55 would like to remind the citizens of Boundary County that the annual Memorial Day parade will take place on Monday, May 25th, 2009. This year's parade theme will be 'patriotism.' The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. from the Boundary County Fairgrounds. All participants in the parade should come to the fairgrounds between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. to form up. With the number of participants that are taking part in the annual event, it is essential to arrive at the fairgrounds early enough to be placed into the lineup.

The parade will leave the fairgrounds, travel Bonner Street to Main Street, then proceed south on Main Street to Railroad Street. Motorized units can then return to U.S. 96 and the walking units may return to the fairgrounds.

A Memorial Day Service at Grandview Cemetery will follow the parade. The service usually begins approximately 30 to 45 minutes after the parade ends, depending on traffic flow to the cemetery.

The American Legion will be placing flags at Grandview Cemetery on each veteran's grave on Friday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. Anyone interested in assisting with that is encouraged to come and take part.

Please contact either Boundary Post Commander Ozzie Osborn at 267-2666 or Post Chaplain Mike Ashby at 267-5135 with questions.
