NIC Science Students Earn Scholarship Awards

Several North Idaho College students recently received scholarship awards through NIC's natural sciences division.

NIC student Elizabeth Beechler of Coeur d'Alene earned the W. James Burns Award, which is given annually to an outstanding student in the NIC biology department. The award is named in honor of W. James Burns, Jr., who taught in NIC's biology department for 21 years and served as a member of the Panhandle Health District board. The scholarship award covers one-year of tuition and fees at NIC.

Other nominees included Caitlyn Free of Sandpoint and Emily Fowler of Coeur d'Alene.

NIC student Kenneth Beamer of Rathdrum earned the Robert D. Murray outstanding Transfer Student Award established in honor of long-time NIC instructor and natural sciences division chair Robert D. Murray. Murray is currently the dean of general studies at NIC.

The Outstanding Chemistry Student Award was presented to Bryne Rush of Rathdrum.
