“The hardest thing in life is to learn which bridge to cross and which to burn.”

-Laurence J. Peter-

It has come time for your Uncle Bud to put on his plain old Bud hat and move on. It has finally dawned on this old brain I’m spending more time in research and coordination about fishing … than actually fishing.

Don’t get me wrong. I’ve loved every minute of reporting to you on our fantastic fishing resources here in the North Idaho Panhandle. Even though we’ve focused on fishing here in our area I’ve heard from people all over the world. Another reminder of the worth of this internet media as a source of news.

When your goals have been met … move on to another ladder.

I have made a lot of pleas to you for various causes over the past four years so it is only fitting I close this final report to you with yet another plea … and well meaning guidance.

Support our State Fish & Game and when I speak of support, I mean give them feedback by attending regional meetings and responding to surveys. Yes, we are a pretty independent lot up here in the Idaho Panhandle and have a well documented history of being for the most part “anti-government”. However, when it comes to our fisheries resources I ask you remember one simple fact.

Our Regional Fish and Game agency is the primary manager of our beloved fisheries. Please focus your efforts and support there instead of with special interest groups.

It has been a pleasure and an honor of reporting to you the past four years. Keep those lines tight.

Slim … it is all yours fella.
