Bonners Ferry and the Boundary County Community have worked out a miraculous Christmas gift for one local family.
An online FaceBook auction that began as a small spark, a Random Act of Kindness, blazed like a wildfire out of control, and has succeeded in blessing the Choate family during a great time of need.
According to a Facebook post made by auction spearhead, Harmon Newhouse, after the close of the auction on December 18, 2019, this community, as well as many people from around the country, raised about $40,000 for the family in just about three weeks.
Paisley Choate, was diagnosed with cancer last year but fought valiantly during the summer was able to return home to begin 2nd grade. Unfortunately, the cancer returned and she is once again fighting for her life. Paisley has been receiving treatments in Spokane, but will have the opportunity for a bone marrow transplant in Seattle in early 2020.
This unique way of fundraising for the Choate Family was so uplifting for the entire community. It has affected everyone that heard about it or participated in it in one way or another. Whether through giving or receiving, people were able to take a little piece of themselves, and share with the entire community. And many were able to bid on the hundreds of items that they needed or wanted; it was a win-win!
Plans are already in the making for a second auction to allow the community to continue to support this Cancer Warrior.
What better way is there to offer support and love to this local family?
