You may have seen some of the work we’ve been up to near the downtown Visitor’s Center. If you’ve been wondering what we’re up to, the City is getting close to having a DC Charging station available to the public for use. The construction and installation of the electrical vehicle charging station was funded through the Idaho Dept. of Environmental Quality, Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Program. It was placed at the visitor center to encourage traveling public to stop, charge and visit our downtown businesses!
The Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) program intends to provide cost-shared funds with some strategic locations within Idaho for DC fast charger equipment. The locations will create a network of highways in Idaho that offer electric vehicle charging services to the public. Charging sites stationed along prioritized highway systems will be funded with the monies. You can learn more about the program by going to https://www.deq.idaho.gov/air-quality/vw-diesel-settlement/
The City hopes to have this DC station available for use by the public by the end of November, 2020!
